Arctic Summer Experience is a 5-day guided holiday package in Inari, Lapland. The journey leads from the central lakes of Inari to the rugged coastline of the Arctic Ocean in Norway. Hosted by a local family, it includes cultural encounters, time on Lake Inari, and visits to a husky farm. Experience the unique atmosphere of the Arctic summer under the 24-hour daylight of the Midnight Sun.

  • Welcome Dinner with the host family (Day 1).
  • 4 nights’ accommodation at the 3-star Hotel Kultahippu in Ivalo in a single, twin, or family room.
  • Selected meals: 4 hotel breakfasts and 3 lunches.
  • All transport: Airport transfers and a day trip to Norway.
  • Activities: Siida Museum visit, Lake Inari cruise, husky farm visit, visit to UKK National Park & Saariselkä, daily hotel sauna.

5-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in the Arctic – A Warm Welcome

The journey begins at Ivalo Airport, where the local hosts greet arriving guests. After settling into the hotel, the evening continues with a Welcome Dinner at the host family's home. Guests gather around the table to enjoy local food and hear stories of everyday life above the Arctic Circle. It is an ideal way to start the stay and get to know the hosts.

Day 2: Cultural Heritage and Lake Inari

The day continues to Inari for a visit to the Siida Museum, with insights into the history of the Sámi people and practical ways of living in the North. In the afternoon, a boat cruise on Lake Inari reveals thousands of islands and a peaceful atmosphere. A shared lunch is included during the day.

Day 3: The Arctic Ocean Expedition (Norway)

A day of wide-open landscapes as the route crosses the border into Norway. The scenery shifts from fells to dramatic mountains that meet the turquoise Arctic Ocean. Lunch is served at a Norwegian restaurant. There is time to walk along the shore, breathe the fresh sea air, and try fishing from the coast before returning to Ivalo in the evening.

Day 4: Huskies and Fell-top Views

The day begins with a visit to a local husky farm to meet the dogs and learn about their summer routines and care. Lunch is enjoyed at the top of Kaunispää Fell, offering a 360-degree view over the vast landscape. Later, a guided walk follows the natural paths of Urho Kekkonen National Park, taking in the quiet of the outdoors.

Day 5: Departure

After a final breakfast and a last moment of fresh Arctic air, guests are transferred back to the airport. The journey ends with firsthand experience of the North, new connections, and memories of an authentic Arctic summer..

  • Arctic mosquitoes: Light-colored, loose-fitting, long-sleeved clothing is recommended during the peak summer weeks.
  • Layering is key: A windproof jacket is useful, as temperatures are often cooler by the Arctic Ocean and on the fell tops
